No country for old men is one of my favorite books ever made, period. Including one of my favorite movie adaptations. I’ve read Cormac McCarthy since I was a freshman in high school, first being Blood Meridian (another phenomenal read, definitely recommend). Interesting to note that McCarthy originally wrote No Country as a screenplay. Then decided to shape it into a novel. That is a reason for its dialogue heavy scene count, as it was written for the screen. I think this definitely made it particularly adaptable for the Coen Brothers compared to McCarthy’s other work.
